Outdoor Grills
Approximately 16,600 people visit the emergency room each year because of a grilling accident, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Half of those injuries are thermal burns, caused by fire or contact with something tremendously hot. Of the contact injuries, one-third occur when people bump, touch or fall on part of the grill or hot coals.
- Propane and charcoal BBQ grills should only be used outdoors.
- The grill should be placed well away from the home, deck railings and out from under eaves and overhanging branches.
- Keep children and pets away from the grill area.
- Keep your grill clean by removing grease or fat buildup from the grills and in trays below the grill.
- Never leave your grill unattended
